Advanced Survey Design, a VA-certified, service-disabled, veteran-owned small business (SDVOSB), specializes in a Web-based survey process. Our survey implementation business also offers a variety of other survey completion and feedback options for our clients, including offline computer based or pencil and paper questionnaire options. We also provide customized training packages, presentations, seminars, and workshops to fit the needs of our clients.
Utilizing our comprehensive survey assessment process, our team is able to specialize in operational and maintenance safety climate assessments using a survey process well-grounded in organizational theory and risk management concepts. This focus can be expanded to the other domains employing the same theoretical and conceptual foundations. Additional applications of the process currently include safety assessment surveys for military ground combat and support units, private motor vehicle (PMV) and motorcycle operations, off-duty and recreational (OD&R) activities, higher headquarters (HHQ) units, and air traffic control (ATC) organizations.

Dr. Robert C. Figlock – Chief Executive Officer
With a Ph.D. in applied management, Dr. Figlock has spent more than ten years supervising the business practices and day-to-day operations of a growing service-disabled, veteran-owned, small business. He has 15 years of experience developing, managing, and administering organizational climate assessment systems for DoD, NASA, VA, and private industry organizations as well as 13 years of teaching experience at the School of Aviation Safety at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. Dr. Figlock has also developed and released more than 250 research papers pertaining to military safety issues. Michael W. Schimpf – Chief Operating Officer
An experienced survey system manager, Mr. Schimpf is an insightful and persistent problem solver with military experience as a fighter pilot, instructor pilot, and a software engineer. He has spent more than 10 years managing, administering, and engineering organizational climate assessment systems for the DoD, NASA, VA, the RAF, and private industry organizations using his unique blend of business, technical, and operational experience. Gerald M. Pearman – Senior Project Manager
Mr. Pearman runs multiple programs for ASD as the Senior Project Manager. His largest project is the VA’s Survey of Veteran Enrollees’ Health and Utilization of Health Care. Mr. Pearman possesses extensive briefing experience having briefed congressional leaders and staff, general officers, and senior executive service members on various program and research findings. He holds a Master’s degree in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School and an undergraduate degree from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point. Mr. Pearman is a service-disabled Veteran who served more than 20 years in the U.S. Army as an Army Aviator. He is a veteran of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and earned the Bronze Star for his service in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Mr. Pearman’s resume may be seen here.
